Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
Grease a pie dish, about 22–26 cm in diameter. Mix the berries with the muscovado sugar, maizena, cardamom, vanilla and place them in the dish.
In a bowl, mix together granulated sugar, salt, rolled oats, flour, cardamom, vanilla and baking powder.
In a saucepan, combine butter and light syrup and melt over low heat, stirring.
Pour the butter mixture into the bowl with the oat mixture and stir to combine.
Spread the batter evenly over the berries in the pie dish.
Bake in the middle of the oven for about 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Can be served warm or cold, store in the fridge.
